Speeding
In addition to fines, speeding tickets will result in points on your license. Points assessed depend on the speed you were driving in excess of the posted limit. The points for speeding tickets are as follows:
- 15-18 MPH over speed limit- 2 points
- 19-23 MPH over speed limit- 3 points
- 24-33 MPH over speed limit- 4 points
- > 34 MPH over speed limit- 6 points
Note: Drivers under 21 years of age at the time of conviction will have their licenses suspended for speeding 24 miles an hour or greater. Georgia Super Speeder laws apply when speeding in excess of 75 mph on a two-lane road or 85 mph on any road or highway. An additional $200.00 fine is imposed in Super Speeder cases, with nonpayment of the fine resulting in license suspension.
